Welcome to Hamilton East Community Trust
We mourn the loss of our Chair - Lois Livingstone, who was a pivotal part of the Hamilton East community. Our thoughts go out to Lois' family and going forward we will strive to continue the great work Lois undertook to enhance this village we live in
The Hamilton East Community Trust was established in 2005. It developed from the Steele Park Working Group.
The trust's objective is to strengthen the local community through community development initiatives around the Hamilton East area. Hamilton East is the birthplace of Hamilton's pakeha settlement as well as having a long and significant history for Ngati Wairere, the mana whenua of this area. It links the CBD with the eastern suburbs and is becoming a very popular place to live.
Consultation with and submissions to Hamilton City Council is also very important.
We were extremely active in our opposition to the "legal highs" shop in Hamilton East
The Hamilton East Community Trust has also produced two Heritage Trails for Hamilton East and the accompanying brochures give a great insight into our history and our heritage properties.
Copies of the briochures can be found in many of the cafes around Hamilton East and at the Information Centre at the Hamilton Gardens and at the Visitor I-Site in Garden Place.
